Installing 3CX PBX from DigitalOcean Marketplace
Introduction
Easily host and manage 3CX on DigitalOcean. Manage all your servers from one account and stay in full control of your 3CX install. This guide explains how to get a free DigitalOcean account and use it to set up a 3CX Droplet.
Step 1: Get a DigitalOcean Account with special 3CX benefits
If you don't already have an DigitalOcean account:
- Go to the dedicated sign-up page and register with your business email address. You will receive $250 credit, valid for 30 days.
- Once registered, login to the DigitalOcean cloud console.
Step 2: Deploy from Marketplace
- To open the 3CX Marketplace page click here for V20 deployment.
- Click on “Create 3CX Droplet” button.
- Select the region in which your instance will be deployed (typically the closest to you).
- Select a machine type. We would recommend a minimum of 2vCPU/2GB Ram/60GB disk.
- Select SSH Key option. Access a terminal and run this command: ssh-keygen. Follow the instructions and this will create 2 files - id_rsa and id_rsa.pub. Copy the contents of id_rsa.pub and paste in the Add Public SSH Key digital ocean interface.
- Select the SSH key you created in step 5, otherwise specify a password.
- Setup a friendly hostname and add any tags you wish to use and click “Create Droplet”.
All firewall rules will be set automatically!
Step 3: Upload 3CX configuration
Once your 3CX Droplet is created you will need to upload the configuration file to complete the installation.
- If you have not already done so, go to http://www.3cx.com/install/
- Login with your 3CX account and during installation select “On-Premise”. At the end of the process, you will be given the configuration file. You can copy the link or download the file. For more information see Installing 3CX
- Copy the “Droplet IPv4 address” of your new droplet and open it in a browser with port 5015, e.g. http://public_ip:5015[/code].
- Now either upload the file using the upload option or provide the link to the configuration file.
